TISS Mumbai begins admissions for several programmes. The institute offers admission to various courses based on CUET and TISSNET. The Tata Institute of Social Sciences formerly known as Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work was founded in 1936. TISS has four campuses: TISS Hyderabad, TISS Guwahati, and TISS Tuljapur and the main Mumbai. TISS Mumbai has two campuses: the main campus and the Malti and Jal A.D. Naoroji Campus Annexe, both of which are located in Deonar, which is in the North-East section of Greater Mumbai. Moreover, TISS Mumbai has been ranked 98th in the university category of the NIRF Ranking List 2023. The ranking has a downfall as compared to 2022. In 2022, it was ranked 60th under the university category.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have accredited the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai. The majority of TISS courses are offered to candidates with valid scores in TISSNET and RAT exams. TISS Mumbai houses 12 schools, six independent centres, and three resource centres. TISS has a centralised placement cell to help with college placements. This placement cell is in charge of all TISS Mumbai placements. To help students become acquainted with the world of work, the TISS placements cell organises various seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and industrial visits. TISS Mumbai placements are sponsored by various organisations, including the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute, and Infollion Information Services Pvt Ltd.
The highest salary offered during the TISS placement drive 2021-23 was Rs 29.32 lakh per annum. Students were offered an average salary of Rs 19.62 lakh per annum. The top 10% of the batch earned an average salary of Rs 27.43 lakh per annum, while the top 25% earned an average salary of Rs 25.16 lakh per annum. TISS Mumbai provides a wide range of services to its students. TISS Mumbai's campus facilities are tailored to the needs of the students. TISS Mumbai has separate accommodations for boys and girls. TISS Mumbai has six hostels, four on campus and two in Malti and Jal A.D. Naorji.
The institute has a library that houses a large collection of learning resources such as books, reference books, periodicals, journals, and so on. The Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library (SDTML) houses a collection of 1,24,000 books, 1600 audio-visual materials, and scholarly print and e-journal subscriptions totalling 10,298. The UGC-INFLIBNET and the TISS have signed an MoU for access to e-Resources through the UGC-Infonet Digital Consortium. The first floor houses a cutting-edge Cyber Library that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A study hall is also available, with a capacity of 507 students at any given time.
TISS Mumbai has six hostels, four on the main campus and two each on the Malti and Jal A.D. Naoroji campuses. Around 500 students can be accommodated in the TISS Mumbai hostels. The dining Hall is open to both hostel residents and non-residents and serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.
The M.K. Tata Memorial gymkhana and recreation centre features a gym, yoga, table tennis, carrom, and badminton courts, among other things. An aerobics programme is introduced to encourage students to participate in physical fitness activities.
The TISS Mumbai gym, which is located on the first floor of the gymkhana, is well-equipped with cutting-edge equipment. Training in the gym is done under the supervision of trained instructors. Yoga classes are held on the gymkhana's ground floor every morning and evening from Monday to Saturday.

The MBA programmes offered at TISS Mumbai are Business Policy and Entrepreneurship, Development Management, Health Systems Management, HRM, Information Systems Management, Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Management. The admission process for the MBA courses at TISS Mumbai is based on the TISSNET exam which is a 2-hour exam that consists of 100 multiple choice questions. The TISSNET exam is conducted in April every year and the shortlisted candidates for the MBA courses at TISS Mumbai will be called for a personal interview.
